Footprinting Services
Greenhouse gas accounting – or carbon footprinting – allows for the evaluation of an organisation’s impact on climate change by estimating the quantities and assessing the sources of various greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, directly or indirectly connected with the activities of the entity, within its organisational and operational boundaries.South Pole can monitor and calculate your organisation’s carbon footprint expressed as tons of CO2e (Carbon Dioxide Equivalents) emissions, usually on an annual basis. We propose a wide variety of footprinting workpackages to adjust to our clients’ needs. See our detailed Footprinting Sheet for a list of services offered.
Methodology Development
Market benchmark as defined by the first ever approved CDM methodology that uses a benchmark to prove an emission reduction project's additionality.
South Pole offers you a very specific and unique skill set to develop new methodologies for emission reduction projects or to revise existing methodologies according to your needs. We have been involved in developing and evaluating over 50 new CDM methodologies (large and small-scale). We are proud to having written, together with our partners, the first CDM methodology approved by UNFCCC that uses a benchmark for establishing additionality.
Dr. Christoph Sutter who heads our methodology development team was an elected member of the UNFCCC CDM Executive Board’s Methodology Panel from 2005 to 2008. He brings the experience and knowledge of crucial hard and soft factors that are needed to develop a successful methodology.
