Dr. Christoph Sutter, CEO and Partner

Christoph has been working on CDM related issues since 1997 and is a member of the UN CDM Executive Board Methodology Panel. Before joining South Pole he was a consultant and carbon finance expert with McKinsey & Company and project manager with Factor AG. He holds a Ph.D. in environmental sciences, having written his thesis on CDM sustainability assessment methodologies.

Ingo Puhl, Managing Partner

Ingo has over 12 years experience in climate change policy and market mechanisms. Before joining South Pole he was managing director of 500 PPM, one of the pioneering companies in the carbon market. Prior to founding 500 PPM he was working for several international institutions such as the World Bank and the International Energy Agency.
At South Pole Ingo is responsible for our business activities in South East Asia.

Renat Heuberger, Managing Partner

Renat has 7 years of experience in founding and building carbon ventures. He has originated and transacted several millions of carbon credits in Asia and Africa. Before joining South Pole he was managing director and co-founder of myclimate, one of the leading organisations in the voluntary carbon market. He was a finalist of the Swiss Social Entrepreneur Awards 2005. At South Pole he is in charge of business development in East Asia and for structuring carbon credit transactions.

Christoph joined South Pole after 12.5 years with McKinsey & Company, Inc. where he worked as a Senior Expert for Emissions Trading and Electric Power & Natural Gas. At South Pole he is responsible for alliances and partnerships with financial institutions, large buyers, and technology providers. Christoph holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Karlsruhe University, an MSc in Energy Management & Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and ENSPM, Paris, and a doctoral degree in Economics from Oldenburg University.

Patrick Bürgi, Managing Partner

Patrick is an engineer and expert in renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. Prior to South Pole he was carbon offset manager and co-founder of myclimate. At South Pole Patrick is responsible for CDM project development.

Thomas is an expert in finance. Before joining South Pole, he was responsible for Finance and Administration at myclimate, which he co-founded. At South Pole he is in charge of business management and CDM advisory services.

Christian Dannecker, Principal

Christian is environmental scientist and expert in CDM forestry, biofuels, biomass energy and gas and oil sector projects and markets for ecosystem services. Before joining South Pole he was research assistant at ETH Zurich on sustainable CDM forestry projects. He was also Associate CDM Consultant with EcoSecurities Ltd. Christian is sourcing emission reduction opportunities in Latin America.

Marco Hirsbrunner, Principal

Marco is implementing emission reduction projects in China. He graduated in Chinese studies from the University of Zurich and lived for three years in East Asia. Prior to joining South Pole he was developing the Chinese carbon business for myclimate.
